Spray Can Paint Process (Base/Clear)
Note: shake all cans well for a minimum of 5 minutes
Dry times are based on applying materials in temperatures of 20 degrees or above. If the temperature is lower, allow for more dry time
Holding the can 8-12 inches from the panel, apply your first coat in a light to medium coat with a 50% overlap. Allow 15-20 minutes before applying second coat.
On your second coat, still holding the can 8-12 inches from the panel, apply a medium to heavy coat also with a 50% overlap. Allow another 15-20 minutes before applying the next coat of colour.
Some colours may require a 3rd coat for full coverage, which will be applied the same way as the second coat.
For light metallics (i.e. silver/gold) an orientation coat may need to be applied to ensure an even look on the metallic. This is done by moving the can 12-16 inches from panel and applying coat in a misting fashion.
Once you are satisfied with your paint, allow 15-20 minutes of dry time before applying the first coat of clear.
The first coat of clear should be applied lightly, while holding the can 8-12 inches from the panel with a 50% overlap. Allow 15-20 minutes of dry time before applying the second coat.
On your second coat, holding the can 8-12 inches from the panel, apply a medium to heavy coat with a 50% overlap. Allow another 15-20 minutes for it to dry before applying last coat of clear which is applied in the same way as the second coat.
